Samsung doesn’t look content by just releasing monitors, TVs, MP3 players, portable media players, and cellphones as the company has just dropped the SpinPoint F1 hard drive that comes with a whopping 1TB in capacity. The SpinPoint F1 also holds the distinction of being the first of its kind to use three platters compared to other 1TB offerings from Hitachi and Seagate. A trio of 334GB platters are powered by 7,200RPM motors complete with a choice between 16MB or 32MB cache. Proprietary technologies thrown into the SpinPoint F1 also make it boost performance while reducing the clattering sound that hard drives love to make. Read seek time and average latency is said to be 8.9ms and 4.17ms respectively. Should 1TB be far too large for you, there are always 320GB, 500GB and 750GB models available.
