 If you’re living in a cramped apartment and are looking for a 2-in-1 solution, the 17″ Tatung LCD monitor fits the bill perfectly. When you’re not working, you can always use this LCD monitor as a HD-ready TV at a resolution of 1,280 x 1,024 pixels, a standard aspect ratio, a contrast ratio of 500 to 1, a response time of 5ms, and a viewing angle of 140-degrees. At $248, you can’t really go wrong but 17″ is a wee bit too small for blockbusters that cling onto the adage “bigger is better”. Would you settle for a 2-in-1 response such as this, or would you be motivated to keep your LCD monitor and HDTV separate?

BTC of Korea has recently lifted the curtain of its 22″ Jupiter F221W LCD monitor – one that comes with improvements over the Jupiter F220W model. Marketed as an entry-level LCD monitor, the Jupiter F221W comes with a brightness level of 300cd/m², a 170-degree viewing angle, a dot pitch of 0.282mm, a contrast ratio of 700 to 1, a 5ms response time, and tilt functionality. Connectivity options include a single DVD-D port and a couple of D-Sub ports. Pricing details have yet to be determined.

There is a new 70″ full high definition LCD TV out in Korea now, and this model differs from the rest of the crowd as it comes with a light-emitting diode (LED) backlight which replaces the traditional cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) version. This LED backlight also boasts Samsung’s very own local dimming technology that turns off in dark image areas to deliver a contrast ratio that is guaranteed to drop jaws – 500,000 to 1! This performance can be achieved despite a lowered power consumption of 50%. LED scanning capability in this LCD TV also makes flicker and ghosting problems a thing of the past. There is no word on pricing at the moment, but you can be sure that it will be out of reach for most people.

ColorEdge has just unveiled its latest 24.1″ LCD monitor known as the CG241W. This LCD monitor displays images in a widescreen format at 1,920 x 1,200 resolution boasting a viewing angle of 178 degrees. Other features of the CG241W includes a brightness level of 300cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 850 to 1. Colors are optimized in order to give you an accurate reproduction the moment you hook it up to a nearby computer. Connectivity options include DVI/VGA, a slew of USB 2.0 ports, and VESA compatibility among others. Too bad the CG241W retails for a rather hefty $1,718, but then again this targets only professionals so the casual user will probably give this a miss.
